Have you watched Nailed it?
Nailed It is a Netflix show with two rather short seasons. It’s about three amateur bakers trying to “nail” some sort of baking challenge. There are three judges: Nicole Byer, Jacques Torres, and a guest host. Most of it isn’t about the baking like it would be on The Great British Baking Show. No, where this show gets the contestants is almost always in the decorating. That is where challenges start and end.

Now I do not like reality shows, though since I have discovered my love for The Great British Baking Show I have given a lot of cooking shows a shot. I just generally do not like the “dramatic” parts of them. This show is not like that, it is all fun and snark and hilarity. I want to be a judge on this show, no, I just want to be Nicole’s best friend. She is the best, the funniest judge ever. I don’t even think it is just because she is so funny that the show is so funny though. A lot of it is in the editing. I feel like everyone that works on this show just doesn’t give two shits and has a good time. At least that’s the impression I get. They have these hilarious moments of silence where everyone is just kind of staring at each other and I don’t know why but it gets me every time. Or, for example, in the first season they tried to make it like one of the contestants had a crush on Jacques and the result was just the best.
When I watched the first episode, months and months ago, I was working out in the basement and I was laughing so much my husband had to come downstairs to see what I was watching. I even got my daughter into watching it, she’s five and she asks to watch the “funny lady”.
I love how the contestants all do so terribly. I don’t mean to spoil it for you but they all do terribly, but no one is cranky about it. They’re all laughing and taking it in stride and no matter how terrible they do the judges always find something nice to say.
I love Jacques too, he is hilarious in this offbeat way, like he doesn’t mean to be, and I love how Nicole and him work together.
I just love everything about this show and you should give it a shot.
