When my daughter wants to watch TV, it’s on for everyone, the TV is in the living room and so am I. I actually enjoy kid’s television to the point where when I don’t like something I don’t usually let her watch it, just because there are so many things we can watch together and if I don’t like it it must be really bad. Also, her grandparents generally let her do whatever she wants so it’s not like she won’t be able to watch those shows ever.
Some of these terrible shows are including, but not limited to: Paw Patrol, PJ Masks (This show infuriates me, like where are their parents? Why are there pint sized evil villains everywhere?) also anything where adults act creepy, like the Wiggles.
Anyway, I decided I would share what shows I really enjoy watching with my kid.
Voltron Legendary Defender, on Netflix
This show is just so good. The characters, the plot lines, the jokes! The plot lines are really in depth which means that my 5 year old doesn’t get all of it but she gets enough to keep her entertained and then I’m dyeing to watch the next episode to see what happens. While lots of deep stuff is happening, lots of loss and betrayal and fighting, but they balance it out with such fun characters and great humor it works out really well.
She-Ra on Netflix
This show is along the same lines as Voltron. I think they are made by the same production studio? Meh, I never pay attention. Anyhoo, this show is so great, chock full of female empowerment, again great characters, great character building. Bow is my favorite, I love him so much. I expect, like Voltron, that the plot lines will only go deeper as it will only get more complicated as it goes on which I’m all for. My daughter is always asking to watch this one now.
Pokemon (We watch on Netflix, is it still on regular TV?)
This might just be nostalgia because I watched Pokemon in High School. I put it on for my Daughter at first and she was terrified so then I turned it off. After a while she asked to watch it again and now we have basically watched all the Pokemon there is….and there is a lot of Pokemon. She loves it, she loves all of the different Pokemon and I think I know more names of Pokemon than any adult should.
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Discovery Family Channel but we watch on Netflix
This is just a really good show. It’s got such funny characters and they are always building each other up, it’s really fun, and funny, to watch. My daughter has kind of fallen off the pony bandwagon and when new episodes are on Netflix I actually convince her to watch them.
